Quick and Simple Chestnut Butter

Nuts and seeds are very well known for there punch of vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and promoting heart and brain health. Nut butters are also becoming increasingly popular on the market and a lot of people are swapping or using nut butters to compensate for regular dairy butter. There has been a lot of scientific research on why nut butters are a very healthy alternative to regular butters and today we are going to walk you through how to make your very own chestnut butter using Y.V.Fresh’s tasty Chestnuts. There are a lot of manufactured chestnut butters out there which are heavily processed and dont always use natural ingredients, however our Y.V.Fresh recipe is 100% natural which only uses 3 simple ingredients!

You will need:

2 cups of baked and peeled Y.V.Fresh chestnuts

½ a cup of water

½ tsp of salt

Method:

Baking and peeling the chestnuts:

Preheat the oven to 200 celsius. Use a knife to cut a cross on the top of the chestnuts and then place them in a baking pan and roast for approximately 30 minutes or until the skins open and the insides are tender. Remove the chestnuts from the oven and eliminate the shells from the chestnuts. After shelling the chestnuts roast the chestnuts for a few more minutes in the oven until golden and slightly oily.

Once the Chestnuts are prepared place into a food processor fitted with a sharp blade. Blend the until the chestnuts are a very fine powder (about 2 minutes). Next add the water and salt and blend until a creamy like paste consistency is formed (butter like texture) and voila! Your very own chestnut butter is ready. Keep the butter in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or more.
