Krimson Kiss Berry Crumble

As Christmas is right around the corner, we thought we would put together our recipe for an Australian favourite. The berry crumble.

Our Berry crumble has a small twist to it, in that it is made with our sweet, juicy, one of a kind, Krimson Kiss berry.

Serves 6-8 people

You will need:

Base

  • ¼ cup self raising flour

  • 3 x 250 gram punnets Y.V.Fresh Krimson kiss or 6 x 125 gram punnets of Krimson Kiss

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • Teaspoon of cinnamon

Topping

  • ½ cup Self raising flour

  • ½ cup Brown sugar

  • 1 cup rolled Oats

  • ¾ cup Butter

  • 1 hefty tablespoon cinnamon

  1. To begin, set oven to 160 degrees celsius. Line the bottom of a cake tin with parchment paper and spray lightly with oil and place to the side. Take butter out of the fridge and allow it to get to room temperature.

  2. To make the base of the crumble, place fresh Krimson Kiss with flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Combine well together and spoon into the bottom of a baking tin. Evenly spread the mixture so that it coats the whole bottom of the tin. Place cake tin to the side.

  3. For the crumble on top, take another large bowl and put in oats, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Mix together with your hands and then add butter. Rub the butter into the mixture, making sure to coat it all over the dry ingredients. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the berry base mixture.

  4. Place in the oven for 30 minutes or until the crumble topping becomes golden brown in colour.

  5. Top with Fresh Krimson Kiss berries and walnuts, serve with a big dollop of cream or ice cream on a lovely hot day.
