Lemon natural remedy concoction


As the weather gets colder and windier, it seems to be that time of year where everyone is starting to get sick. Even if you don't get very sick it always seems impossible to escape the common cold. While nurofen and other easily accessible paracetamol painkillers are the preferred choice for most people when they catch a cold, there are other natural remedies that can prevent and heal your illness.

Lemon:

Lemons are high in Vitamin C, which is known to support the body's natural defences and enhance the immune system. Lemon juice is reportedly suppose to decrease the strength of the cold and flu virus in the body. Lemons are also high in potassium, an important mineral that helps the kidneys function to their fullest potential and is involved in regulation of blood pressure. Since the kidneys are essential in helping to flush waste matter from the blood, drinking lemon juice in combination with water and and foods provides support for renal function.

Honey:

Although many consider honey as unhealthy because of its high levels of fructose, it shouldn't be forgotten as a home remedy. It contains various antioxidants, which have a great overall effect on our health. Honey has medicinal properties and the power to kill some bacteria, which is why it can also help with sore throats.

Ginger:

Ginger is well known as natural remedy for nausea and vomiting, which can can come in handy for the stomach flu. It also has anti inflammatory properties to soothe sore throats and antibacterial properties to help fight off infections.

For your natural remedy concoction you will need…

1 Y.V.Fresh lemon

Grated or sliced ¼ cup of fresh ginger

⅓ cup of raw honey

½ cup or more hot water

Method:

Firstly slice your lemon in half and using a lemon squeezer and proceed to squeeze your lemon juice. In a teacup or glass, add in your ginger, lemon juice and honey. Add your hot water and stir everything in. For a stronger natural remedy drink add in lemon slices and more ginger.
