The faces behind the berries

Y.V.Fresh is a community of 20+ berry farms across Australia that work together to support and share information amongst one another.

We have decided to put the faces/fields behind the berries and how they contribute to Y.V.Fresh.

Jays Berries

Jays berries is a veggie and berry farm situated in Wandin East in the picturesque Yarra Valley in Victoria. Initially a strawberry farm, Jays berries was founded 20 years ago by the Stewart family who have over 60 years farming experience between them. Jays berries is now open for public picking as the Stewarts thought it was important to allow families to experience where their fruit comes from first hand.

Fun Fact:

Owners John and Jola coincidently gave all their children names starting with the letter “J” so “Jays Berry Farm was the only way to go when naming their business.

Chappies Upick

Chappies U-pick, is a family run business run by brothers Mark and Steve Chapman, who are 4th generation fruit farmers. Their family has been growing fruit for over 100 years so they sure know what they are doing. Chappies is located in Victoria's Yarra Valley within the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. The farm grows and sells raspberries, blackberries and cherries amongst all their other fruit. It is also a U-pick farm and the public is welcomed to visit and pick their own berries

Fun Fact:

The concept of a U-pick farm was introduced to Australia by Gordon Chapman, the brothers father; who came up with the idea after a visit to the USA in 1970.

We hope you enjoyed reading about the farms that provide all the delicious berries to Y.V.Fresh. Make sure you tune in throughout the year to continue learning about our farms.
